IPB University Professor Receives Lifetime Achievement Award for Environmental Advocacy

Bogor, Indonesia — Bambang Hero Saharjo, a distinguished professor from the Department of Silviculture at the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, IPB University, has been honored with the prestigious The Guardian Honor (Lifetime Achievement Award) at the Katadata Green Innovator Awards 2025.

The award recognizes his lifelong dedication to combating forest and land fires (karhutla) in Indonesia, a persistent environmental challenge that has caused significant ecological and economic damage over the years.

Prof. Bambang Hero Saharjo is widely known as a leading expert in forest fire forensics. Throughout his career, he has played a crucial role in uncovering environmental crimes and providing scientific evidence in numerous legal cases related to deforestation and land burning.
